Ukrainian Soldier Survives Throat Cutting in Russian Captivity

33-year-old Ukrainian soldier Vladislav survived a throat cutting in Russian captivity. His throat was cut, but he managed to survive and get to Ukrainian positions after almost five days. At the moment of his release on August 17, his condition was critical, and he required urgent medical assistance.

Vladislav served in the National Guard and was captured near Pokrovsk while trying to help his comrades. After the Russian soldiers evacuated him along with others, he decided to escape, using a piece of glass, and began to move towards safety.

Doctors in the Dnipropetrovsk region, where he was taken, reported that he had significant blood loss and infection, but had already undergone a complex operation. They are hopeful that he will be able to speak again.

Although Vladislav endured horrific experiences, he dreams of returning to the front to fight alongside his comrades. His friends and brother shared his story, which was documented in a notebook, as he currently cannot speak.

In Ukraine, they continue to document cases of Ukrainian soldiers being cut in captivity. According to the OON, over 95% of Ukrainian servicemen who fell into captivity experienced torture.
