Discussion of legal obligations for Ukraine's security guarantees with international partners

  • Ukraine is discussing legal obligations for security guarantees with international partners.
  • The USA is ready to provide strategic support for European forces in Ukraine.
  • Zelensky is working on the configuration of guarantees before negotiations with Russia.

This is reported by RBC Ukraine, Ukrayinska Pravda.

Ukraine is actively discussing potential security guarantees with international partners. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiha, noted that such guarantees would have a legal obligation character. This is important for ensuring a stable security architecture in Europe and the Indo-Pacific region.

After meetings in Washington, negotiating groups were formed to work on this issue. Sybiha emphasized that the military component of the guarantees is the most important and is already being discussed at the level of national security officials.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, also stated that together with partners they are preparing a configuration of security guarantees before possible negotiations with the President of Russia, Volodymyr Putin.

The United States is ready to provide intellectual support within the framework of potential security guarantees for Ukraine. As reported by the Financial Times, the USA could ensure "strategic possibilities," including systems of PPP and intelligence, to support European military forces in Ukraine.

This proposal from the USA depends on the readiness of European countries to send "tens of thousands" of troops to Ukraine.
