VIENNA (AP) — In a German court on August 26, 2025, a 16-year-old boy was found guilty of supporting a failed attack on Taylor Swift's concerts in Austria. The main suspect, known only by the name Mohammed A., was sentenced to 18 months of conditional imprisonment.
The court found that the accused, when he was 14 years old, supported the ideology of the terrorist group "Islamic State" and contacted through social media with a young man in Austria who planned to attack Taylor Swift's concert in Vienna. He sent his acquaintance a video with instructions for making a bomb and organized contact with a member of IS.
The concerts, which were supposed to take place on September 7, 2024, were canceled after the threat was discovered. Austrian authorities detained three suspects, who were also minors at the time of the incident. The main suspect, a 20-year-old man, remains in custody, and the investigation continues.
The accused acknowledged his guilt during the closed court proceedings, which took place through his lawyer. His verdict may be appealed.
