Zoo park owner in Oregon charged with animal cruelty

  • Bryan Tenny is facing 371 counts of animal cruelty.
  • Narcotics and weapons were discovered on the zoo park's premises.
  • More than 300 animals were relocated to shelters after the investigation.

Bandan, Oregon — The owner of a zoo park in Oregon was charged with animal cruelty after police discovered narcotics and weapons on the premises of the facility.

Bryan Tenny, the owner of West Coast Game Park Safari in Bandan, was presented with the charges on September 19. Tenny's attorney did not respond to a request for comment, and a phone number associated with the zoo park was not in service. Tenny has not had the opportunity to file a plea.

Earlier this year, Oregon state police announced that several investigations were conducted at the zoo park in connection with an inquiry that included inspections of animal welfare. Law enforcement discovered methamphetamines, dozens of firearms, cocaine, and large amounts of cash.

More than 300 animals were relocated to shelters or rescue facilities, while emus, chickens, and guinea fowl were euthanized following veterinary assessments.

The grand jury presented Tenny with 371 charges, of which 327 are felonies.
