Protests in Israel demand the end of the war in Gaza
- Protests in Israel are calling for the end of the war in Gaza.
- The deadly strike on the hospital in Nasser caused international criticism.
- The majority of Israelis support the agreement for a ceasefire.
On August 26, 2025, tens of thousands of people participated in protests across Israel, calling for the government to end the war in Gaza. Protesters blocked roads, demanding to pressure Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to conclude an agreement for a ceasefire.
The largest gathering took place in Tel Aviv, where relatives of the captured demanded their release. In Jerusalem, hundreds of people gathered near the Prime Minister's office, where a security cabinet meeting was being held. Protests also took place at major highways and at Ben-Gurion Airport.
At the same time, the Israeli army accelerated preparations for a ground operation in Gaza, disregarding international calls for a ceasefire. Previously, as a result of the deadly strike on the hospital in Nasser, at least 20 people were killed, including five journalists.
In response to this, the UN stated the necessity of accountability regarding attacks on civilians, including starting an investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, Netanyahu and his government rejected the proposal for a ceasefire, while the majority of Israelis support ending the conflict.
According to polls, 78% of Israeli Jews are not concerned about the suffering of Palestinians, while a significant number of protest actions call for stopping the war and returning all captives.
Qatar, which participates in the negotiations for peace, urged Israel to respond to the proposal regarding the ceasefire agreement, already accepted by Hamas. Protesters believe that the government should focus more on humanitarian issues, such as the blockade in Gaza, which currently threatens the lives of tens of thousands of people.
