ALBANY, New York. The court dismissed the case of former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to continue the judicial case with the woman who accused him of sexual assault. Judge Denise Hartman noted that continuing the case does not serve the interests of public society, as Cuomo is trying to restore his reputation during the election period.
Cuomo, who denies all allegations, is trying to request the dismissal of the case, which, in his opinion, simplifies the allegations. However, the court rejected this request and allowed the plaintiffs in Britain to withdraw from the case.
This case arose after the state of New York agreed to pay $450,000 to the Commission, which asserts that Cuomo sexually harassed her during her tenure. Cuomo, who filed for election as an independent candidate, previously stepped down in 2021 after allegations against him from 11 women.
Speaker Cuomo stated that the public has the right to see these text messages, as they confirm his innocence. The commission filed its appeal in 2023, citing the law that allows filing appeals after the expiration of the usual term of limitations.
