EU to Discuss Military Support for Ukraine at Informal Meeting

From August 28 to 30, 2025, an informal meeting of ministers of the EU member states will take place in Copenhagen. At this meeting, known as "Gymnich," they will discuss, among other things, military support for Ukraine from the side of the European Union.
On August 28, the ministers will participate in a preliminary event on the issue of defense, after which a social evening will be held at the Frederiksberg Palace. The informal meeting is scheduled for August 29, during which working sessions on military support for Ukraine and the readiness of EU members will take place.
EU foreign policy representative Annita Hippier stated that the meeting will address ways to strengthen pressure on Russia and further support for Ukraine. The main principle will remain the need for Ukraine to defend its independence and territorial integrity.
The meeting of ministers of the member states is scheduled for August 29 and 30. Within the framework of the meeting, four working sessions will take place, the details of which have not yet been announced.
Data currently presiding in the EU Council emphasizes the importance of supporting Ukraine and maintaining sanctions against Russia. Danish leadership actively provides military assistance to Ukraine, including the supply of heavy weaponry and F-16 aircraft.
In addition, Ukraine and Denmark are starting joint production of armaments, which becomes an important step in cooperation between the countries.
