Venus Williams participates in women's doubles at US Open

New York — Venus Williams will participate in the women's doubles at the US Open, having received a wild card alongside finalist Leylah Fernandez in the women's draw of 2021.
The 45-year-old Williams is returning to the Grand Slam for the first time in two years after a 16-month hiatus in professional tennis, which began last month.
She will also participate in the mixed doubles this coming week, as well as in the women's draw on Monday evening.
