- Russian troops confirmed their invasion into the Dnipropetrovsk region
- Zelensky discussed the situation at the front with military leadership
- The USA is planning new sanctions against Russia in case of a ceasefire absence
On August 27, 2025, Ukraine recognized for the first time that Russian troops have entered the Dnipropetrovsk region, a central administrative region that previously did not report intense combat actions. Viktor Tregubov, a representative of the Ukrainian forces in Dnipro, confirmed that the fighting is ongoing.
Russia is trying to solidify its position in the region, despite the prohibition of the Ukrainian General Staff, which asserts that it controls the villages of Zaporizhzhia and Novohryhorivka. Meanwhile, the DeepState monitoring project reported on the occupation of these villages by Russian troops.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky discussed the situation at the front with military leadership, including in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions. He also emphasized the importance of ensuring additional resources for recruitment.
Currently, men aged 18 to 22 have been allowed to freely cross the border, which is a significant shift in the context of the wartime situation. The Estonian Minister of Defense confirmed that without a border, the region remained under control, despite an incident with a Ukrainian drone, which occurred unexpectedly in Estonia.
It has been noted that the USA is considering the possibility of new sanctions against Russia, which may not be dependent on peace negotiations. President Trump emphasized that he is ready for an "economic war", but does not rule out that Ukraine may also be subjected to restrictions.
