- Scott Pihon has been charged with an attack on the soldiers of the National Guard.
- In the incident, police observed the suspect, who was arrested.
- The National Guard has been activated in Washington since the beginning of September.
In Washington, D.C., a man named Scott Pihon was charged and accused of attacking soldiers after he, wielding an electric cutter, attacked two soldiers of the National Guard. The incident occurred on Friday, September 26, 2025, near the Union station.
According to court documents, Pihon approached the soldiers on a scooter and attacked them, resulting in one soldier sustaining injuries to his face, while the other suffered injuries to his leg. An Amtrak officer became a witness to the incident and detained Pihon.
This incident occurred against the backdrop of heightened security in Washington, where since the beginning of September, President Donald Trump has activated the National Guard as part of his crime-fighting program. Notably, despite the fact that violent crime in the city has decreased to a 30-year low, Trump has declared a "state of emergency" in connection with crime in Washington.
Additionally, in September of this year, another person, Sian Charles Dand, was arrested for an attack on a customs officer of the U.S. after he shot at the officer's vehicle.
According to the authorities, National Guard soldiers now have the right to carry firearms, which was prompted by concerns among residents of the city about a possible escalation of violence.
