Tariffs for energy for households will increase from July

  • From July, tariffs for energy will increase to £1,755.
  • Approximately 9 million households will face a significant increase in tariffs.
  • The energy bills for households have reached a record level of £4.15 billion.

From July 2025, tariffs for energy for households in Great Britain will increase by 2%, which will lead to an average annual bill increase to £1,755. These changes were confirmed by the energy regulator Ofgem, which noted the increase in gas prices in Europe.

According to analysts from Cornwall Insight, the main reason for the tariff increase will also be the expansion of the discount program for vulnerable households, which adds approximately £15 to the average bill. About 9 million households that use the new tariffs will feel the impact of the increase immediately after the introduction of the new price cap.

This tariff increase occurs after a temporary decrease, which was observed in the spring, when the maximum tariff fell by 7% to £1,720 due to lower market prices for energy. However, from the beginning of autumn, household energy costs will again be linked to the increased energy expenses, which will cause a rise in access to energy during the cold winter months.

In recent years, household energy bills have reached a record level of £4.15 billion, which indicates growing financial difficulties for many families.

It is predicted that in January 2026, prices may decrease, but this will depend on many factors, including the political situation and weather conditions. Changes in the price cap occur every three months, and the next review is scheduled for the end of November.
