Tragic Incident: Ukrainian Woman Killed in the USA by Stabbing
- Iryna Zarutska was killed by stab wounds in Charlotte.
- The attacker is a homeless man with a criminal past.
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine confirmed the woman's death.
Iryna Zarutska, a 23-year-old Ukrainian woman, was killed by stab wounds at a bus station in North Carolina on August 22. She had recently arrived in the United States, seeking to escape the war in Ukraine.
At the time of the attack, Iryna was at the East/West Boulevard station in Charlotte, where she was attacked by a homeless man named Decarlos Brown-Moloshy. The police reported that the woman received multiple stab wounds and died at the scene. The attacker was hospitalized with unspecified injuries, but he was already charged with first-degree murder.
It is known that Brown has a long criminal history, including theft and robbery. After being released from prison in late 2020, he again fell into the field of law enforcement due to incidents of violence.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine confirmed Iryna's death, noting that the consulate maintains contact with the relatives of the deceased and relevant authorities. A campaign was created on GoFundMe to support her family, which has already raised nearly $15,000.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, but so far it is unclear what led to the attack.
