On August 26, Russian forces struck the coal preparation plant in Donetsk region, destroying the building and seriously damaging the equipment. The plant belongs to DTEK, the largest private energy company in Ukraine.
According to information from DTEK's press service, as a result of the attack, the workers on shift remained alive. Rescuers extinguished the fire at the scene of the incident. However, as noted, the plant sustained significant damage, its capacity is no longer sufficient for operation.
This is not the first major attack on this plant, which supplied coal for thermal power plants in Ukraine. As a result of the attack, the energy infrastructure in other regions also suffered losses, which led to the suspension of operations of the municipal electricity supplier in Sumy and a decrease in water pressure for consumers.
