Ravichandran Ashwin, a 38-year-old spinner, announced the conclusion of his career in the Indian Premier League (IPL), but expressed the intention to play in other leagues around the world. Ashwin started and concluded his career in the IPL with the Chennai Super Kings and played for teams such as Rising Pune Supergiant, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, and Kings XI Punjab.

In his post on social media, he stated: "A special day, thus a new beginning. They say every end is a new start. My time as an IPL player ends today, but my time as a researcher in various leagues begins today."

Ashwin is the fifth best bowler in IPL history with 187 wickets from 221 matches, with an exceptional economy rate of 7.2. He is also the second-best bowler for India in tests, having concluded his international career in 2024.

He won the IPL title twice, in 2010 and 2011, and ranks fifth on the list of the best bowlers in IPL history.
