Cadillac F1 Selects Experienced Drivers for Debut
- Cadillac F1 has chosen Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez for its debut.
- The team plans to recruit an American driver, but only when he is ready.
- Martin Brundle supports the selection of the team based on the experience of the pilots.
Cadillac F1, the new participant in Formula 1, announced its lineup for the debut season in 2026, selecting drivers Valtteri Bottas from Finland and Sergio Pérez from Mexico. Initially, there were plans for the American driver Colton Herta to also join the lineup, contingent upon his readiness.
Nevertheless, the team, which is managed by Dan Towriss, aims to recruit an American driver in the future, but only when that driver is ready. Bottas and Pérez, both with 35 years of combined experience, are considered seasoned pilots, capable of supporting the team in adapting to new regulations that will come into effect next year.
Formula 1 expert Martin Brundle supported the team's selection, noting that such a lineup allows them to uniquely address the issue of inexperienced drivers, who could cause damage at the start. Bottas emphasized that his priorities are focused on developing the team, while Pérez, in turn, expressed his desire to compete in the 2024 season after a challenging year.
Currently, there are no concrete plans regarding Herta, but the team is also considering the possibility of creating a youth program, which may include other American drivers in the future.
