Attack on Immigration: Farage and the Plans of the Conservatives

  • Farage proposes mass deportation of migrants without permission
  • Conservatives are trying to compete with Farage in the immigration policy arena
  • Opposition parties risk losing support in the elections due to a focus on immigration

In Great Britain, there is an ongoing discussion about immigration policy, at the center of which is the leader of Reform UK, Nigel Farage. Recently, he presented the plan "Operation Restore Fairness," which envisions mass deportation of migrants. According to him, measures will be taken against those who reside without permission, as well as those who are already in the country but are considered illegal.

Farage emphasizes that centers will be established for the detention of deportees, and he also proposes financial incentives for those who decide to leave voluntarily. His plan includes withdrawing from international agreements that protect migrants and restricting human rights that are supported by the European court.

Conservatives are also trying to find ways to counter Farage. The Minister for Relations with the EU, Nick Thomas-Symonds, criticizes his plan, asserting that the suspension of trade agreements with the EU would lead to a rise in food prices. However, within the party itself, there is a split, as some former ministers advocate for suspending membership in the European Convention on Human Rights to improve control over migrants.

Critics believe that opposition parties, Conservatives and Labour, are competing to outdo Farage on immigration issues, as this may distract voters from economic and social services. They are calling for a focus on these issues to avoid falling into the trap of aligning their programs with the radical proposals of Farage.
