SpaceX achieved a significant milestone in the development of the Starship system. During the tenth test flight, which took place overnight on August 27, the company successfully deployed its first eight Starlink satellites.
The launch occurred at 18:30 Central Time (02:30 August 27 Kyiv time) from the Starbase spaceport in Texas. The Starship rocket, measuring over 123 meters, ascended into the sky, igniting all 33 Raptor engines, and three minutes later separated from the first stage, Super Heavy.
Starship continued its flight into space, successfully deploying the satellite payloads. This was an important step towards the full reusability of the Starship system. During the re-entry into the atmosphere, the rocket experienced extreme loads, allowing data to be collected on the structural integrity.
At the end of the mission, Starship performed a controlled landing in the ocean west of Australia, after which it was recovered as planned.
This test demonstrated progress in SpaceX's campaign, which aims to achieve the reusability of the rocket. NASA acknowledged SpaceX's success, noting that it opens the way for the Artemis III mission, which anticipates returning astronauts to the Moon in 2027.
Following this achievement, the company still needs to overcome several challenges related to the further development of Starship, including demonstrating a new payload in space and a safe landing on the Moon.
