London Launches Campaign Against Noisy Passengers

  • The TfL campaign calls on users to wear headphones while traveling
  • 70% of passengers are disturbed by noise from mobile devices
  • Posters with the message will appear on all types of London transport

A new campaign has started in London aimed at encouraging passengers to use headphones while traveling on public transport. The organization Transport for London (TfL) has launched a poster campaign that urges commuters not to create noise, whether by playing music or talking on the phone without headphones.

The posters state: "Please, do not disturb others with loud music or ringing during your journey." This campaign has already begun on the Elizabeth line and will gradually expand to buses, Docklands Light Railway, London Overground, London Underground, and London Tram starting in July.

TfL research has shown that 70% of surveyed passengers experience discomfort due to loud music and phone ringing during their journeys. Deputy Mayor for Transport Seb Dance noted that most Londoners use headphones, but a small portion who play music on their devices can disturb others.

This campaign is an extension of the initiative "#TravelKind," which was launched in 2017 and aims to raise awareness among passengers about the comfort of fellow commuters.
