Vikings Acquire Adam Thielen from Panthers in Significant Deal

On September 27, 2025, the Vikings traded from the Panthers veteran wide receiver Adam Thielen, who previously played nine seasons with the team. Under the terms of the agreement, the Vikings will send a fifth-round pick in the 2026 draft and a fourth-round pick in 2027, conditional on Thielen making the team and a seventh-round pick in 2026 and a fifth-round pick in 2027.

The reason for the agreement for the Vikings lies in the need for additional options in the offense. Following the injury of Jalen Nailor and the prolonged absence of Jordan Addison, the team decided to return to an experienced player. Thielen, who knows Kevin O'Connell's system well, also maintains good relationships with Justin Jefferson and young quarterback Jay Jay McCarthy.

For the Panthers, the agreement indicates that they will be able to focus on new wide receivers, especially since Thielen, who was previously a significant player in the offense, now leaves the team. The Panthers are looking forward to the success of new drafts, including rookie Tetaïor McMillan, and other young players like Xavier Leggett and Jalen Coker. Although Thielen showed good productivity, his role diminished, and the team could not afford to pay him $9 million as the fourth receiver.
