Nothing uses fake images as samples for Phone (3)
- Nothing has used fake images for advertising Phone (3)
- An anonymous photo confirmed that his image was not taken on Phone (3)
- The company is correcting the situation by updating the demonstration units
This is reported by Mezha, The Verge.
The tech brand Nothing has found itself in a scandal due to the use of professional photos that were issued as images taken on the Phone (3). Five samples that the company presented were actually licensed images, taken with other cameras.
An anonymous photo confirmed that his image, which was used in the advertisement, was not taken on Phone (3), but was purchased through the Stills service. EXIF data shows that the image was taken in 2023, long before the release of Phone (3) on the market.
The samples demonstrated in stores included photographs of spiral staircases, car headlights, glass, and other objects. Although Nothing officially provided these images, the company incorrectly presented them as taken on their device, which misleads consumers.
Nothing's spokesperson, Akis Evangelidis, acknowledged that the images on the demonstration units were "placeholders" that had not been updated in a timely manner. He noted that the company is actively correcting the situation and emphasized that this was "an unfortunate incident" without malicious intent.
