The head of the famous Shaolin Monastery, Shi Yongxin, is under investigation for alleged embezzlement, "improper relationships with several women" and "the illegal adoption of children." This was reported last week by representatives of the monastery.

Shi, who has headed Shaolin since 1999, has built a global brand for the monastery through extensive promotion. Under his leadership, schools have been opened outside of China, and a martial arts ensemble has been created that demonstrates Shaolin kung fu.

The monastery, which has existed for over 1500 years, is located in central China in Henan province. Shi has become known as the "CEO of the monks" due to his entrepreneurial skills.
