JD Vance continues to promote the new tax bill of the Republicans

  • Vice President JD Vance continues to advocate for the new legislative proposal in the state of Ohio.
  • The Republican tax proposal includes new tax deductions and programs for child care.
  • Polls show that the new law remains unpopular among the public.

Columbus, Ohio — Vice President JD Vance is returning to his home state to continue promoting the advancement of a broad tax and immigration legislative proposal of the Republicans.

He will speak in Canton, Ohio, where he will discuss "priorities for working American families and businesses," along with information from his office. Details of the visit have not been disclosed, NBC News reports, but his promotion will take place at a steel mill located approximately 60 miles south of Cleveland.

This visit will be the second this month, as Vance actively pushes a legislative package that includes a number of conservative priorities, which Republicans refer to as "One Big, Beautiful Bill."

In West-Pennsylvania, Vance noted that people may have the opportunity to keep more of their earnings, particularly with new tax deductions on overtime work. He also discussed a new child care program under the name "Trump-Care" and how the new law promotes energy development while simultaneously criticizing Democrats for opposing the legislation, which maintains existing tax rates that they had earlier agreed to this year.

This legislation was passed by Congress under Republican control with a narrow majority, and Vance even became a key vote in the Senate for its passage. The legislation also allocates hundreds of billions of dollars for Trump’s immigration program, shortening Medicaid funding and extending benefits.

The Vice President is also actively campaigning to promote the law amid the growing scandal surrounding Jeffrey Epstein, who, according to authorities, took his own life in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Trump and his associates have perpetuated conspiracy theories surrounding Epstein’s death, and now they are confronted with the ramifications of a Justice Department investigation into the fact that Epstein was indeed a known sex offender and more documents regarding the case will not be released.

Questions regarding the case continue to follow Trump in Scotland, where he was last week announcing a trade agreement with the European Union. When asked about the connection between the announced agreement and Epstein's case, Trump replied: "You’re just trying to stir things up.".

The White House is framing the new law as a political win, directing Vance to promote it in his electoral districts, where he will decide whether Republicans will maintain a majority in the House of Representatives in the upcoming year.

The visit to southeastern Pennsylvania will take place in the district represented by Republican Rob Bridenstine, a freshman who narrowly won in last year's elections. In the week, Vance is visiting the district of Democratic Representative Emily Sykes, who is a target in this electoral cycle for the National Republican Committee.

Polls prior to the law’s passage indicated that the law remains largely unpopular, although the public supports certain specific provisions, such as increased tax credits for children and allowing workers to deduct more of their tips from taxes.
