Macron and von der Leyen discussed support for Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron promised to increase pressure on Russia and continue supporting Ukraine. He made this statement after negotiations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Macron stressed that France will continue to strengthen assistance to Ukraine and demand from Russia a commitment to ceasefire, which opens the way for peace negotiations involving Europe.
Zelensky noted that they discussed the key needs of Ukraine in the elections, focusing on the strengthening of anti-corruption measures. The leaders also talked about supplying additional missiles for the SAMP/T and Crotale systems.
At the same time, Zelensky signed a law that launches a large-scale reform of the Agency for the Recovery of Assets, which he also discussed with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. She noted Ukraine's progress in implementing reforms that will facilitate further financial support.
Macron and von der Leyen emphasized the importance of independent anti-corruption institutions for Ukraine. They stated that this is one of the key aspects that distinguishes Ukraine from Russia, as it also remains a vital democratic entity regardless of the war.
