Automakers are offering discounts on electric vehicles

  • Automakers are offering their own discounts on electric vehicles.
  • The grant for electric vehicles is not yet active, but its implementation is anticipated.
  • Manufacturers must comply with ecological standards to receive the grant.

Two days after the announcement of the new grant for electric vehicles in Ukraine, the official government site does not list any car that meets the grant conditions. The grant, which was announced on July 14 and will be implemented on July 16, offers discounts on electric vehicles of up to £37,000, with possible grants ranging from £1,500 to £3,750 for eligible models.

However, automakers, including Hyundai, MG, Alfa Romeo, and Leapmotor, have started their own discounts to stimulate sales, while buyers are waiting for clarifications regarding the grants. Hyundai offers the largest discounts on the Hyundai Inster model, reducing the price by £3,750 to £19,755.

Electric vehicle manufacturers from China have also reacted to the situation: Leapmotor has launched its discount program, offering reductions on the T03 and C10 models, while MG has lowered prices on its electric vehicle by £1,500. Alfa Romeo is also offering a £1,500 discount on its Junior Elettrica model.

The government emphasized that the grant will be available only to manufacturers that comply with ecological standards. The Ministry of Transport indicated that models manufactured in China may not qualify for the grant due to non-compliance with requirements.

Manufacturers must submit applications for the grant, and all approved models will be published on the government site. Grants will be issued on a "first come, first served" basis.
