In Washington on Monday, new negotiations will commence between economic representatives of the USA and China, aimed at resolving long-standing economic disputes that have caused a trade war between the two countries. The goal of the negotiations is to extend the truce for three months and eliminate the increase in tariffs.

China has a deadline of September 12 to reach a stable agreement on tariffs with the administration of President Donald Trump. Earlier this spring and summer, preliminary agreements were reached to halt the escalation of tariffs and suspend the export of rare earth materials.

Without a global agreement, the supply chains could face new shocks due to the reinstatement of high tariffs, which could lead to a bilateral trade embargo.

These negotiations take place after the largest agreement Trump reached with the European Union regarding a 15% tariff on most goods exported to the USA, including automobiles.

Such an extension would help avoid further escalation and facilitate preparations for a potential meeting between Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping in late July or early November.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration has imposed new restrictions on the export of technology to China to avoid complicating trade negotiations. This step has sparked concern among exporters from the national security sector, who believe it undermines the USA's position in the field of artificial intelligence.

Negotiations on tariffs, which began in Washington, will again focus on relations between the USA and China, while pressure on China from the USA continues.
