Recognition of genocide in Gaza by Israeli human rights organizations
- B'Tselem and the Physicians for Human Rights accused Israel of genocide.
- The report indicates mass killings and destruction of infrastructure.
- Western countries also bear responsibility for the situation in Gaza.
Two prominent human rights organizations from Israel, B'Tselem and the Physicians for Human Rights, assert that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. In the report, published on July 28, 2025, these organizations call for the international community to stop the violence.
Alongside their data, Israeli attacks on civilians in Gaza have been ongoing for almost two years, causing significant harm to Palestinian society. They report mass killings of women, children, and elderly people, including widespread destruction of infrastructure.
The leadership of B'Tselem states that Israel's actions cannot be justified as an attempt to eliminate the Hamas regime, as the consequences of these actions indicate an intention to eradicate the Palestinian group entirely or partially. Along with their statement, Israeli politicians have made declarations that testify to the intent to commit genocide.
Organizations have also accused Western allies of Israel of complicity, stating that they contribute to genocide by not providing sufficient measures to stop it. They refer to the terrorist actions from the side of the international community. Meanwhile, Israel continues to deny accusations of genocide, asserting that its actions are a self-defense response to terrorist attacks from Hamas on July 7, 2023.
At that time, according to the organizations, the number of fatalities in Gaza amounts to approximately 60,000, which constitutes over 2.5% of the total population. They also note that in conditions of lack of medical assistance, the health situation in the region continues to deteriorate, and the consequences of this will be felt for many years to come.
