The Sunderland football club has reached an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen regarding the signing of Granit Xhaka. The total transfer fee will amount to €20 million, of which €15 million will be paid upfront, and the remaining €5 million may be paid as bonuses.

The 32-year-old Swiss midfielder is expected to undergo medical examinations in the coming days with Sunderland. Xhaka, who previously played for Arsenal, has experience competing in the Bundesliga, where he helped Leverkusen win the championship and cup in the 2023-24 season.

Sunderland is conducting an active transfer campaign, having already signed six new players this summer. The club also sold midfielder Jobe Bellingham to Borussia Dortmund for €30 million. Sunderland will start their new season in the Premier League on August 16 with a home match against West Ham United.
