LOS ANGELES -- The film "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" became the first Marvel film to earn $118 million in its opening weekend. This release hit theaters on July 28, 2025, and became the fourth largest opening of the year in North America.

The film, which tells the story of superheroes trying to save the retro-futuristic world from the evil Galactus, was produced under the supervision of Kevin Feige and the Walt Disney company. During its international release, it earned an additional $100 million, bringing its total to $218 million worldwide.

Recent successes of "The Fantastic Four" and "Supermen" indicate a revival of interest in superheroes, regardless of the previous discourse about the fatigue of the genre. "This is not fatigue from superheroes; this is fatigue from bad films," noted analyst Paul Dergarabedian.
