Newcastle is negotiating the transfer of goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale
- Newcastle is looking for a goalkeeper to compete with Pope.
- Ramsdale has a contract with Southampton until 2029.
- Negotiations between the clubs are still ongoing.
Newcastle United is in talks with Southampton about a potential transfer for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale. The club from Newcastle has made a proposal for an initial loan with an option to buy, however, Southampton prefers a direct sale.
At the moment, negotiations between the clubs are ongoing, but an agreement has not yet been reached. Newcastle is looking for a goalkeeper, especially since they failed to sign James Trafford from Burnley, who returned to Manchester City.
Ramsdale, 27, moved to Southampton from Arsenal last summer for £25 million. He has a contract with the club until 2029. Last season, the goalkeeper played 32 matches in all competitions, keeping three "clean sheets," as the club finished in the last place in the Premier League.
Currently, the first-choice goalkeeper for Newcastle is Nick Pope, and the team also has Martin Dubravka and other goalkeepers.
