5857 People Released from Captivity

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukraine has managed to return 5,857 people from captivity, and another 555 people were released outside the usual channels. This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy after a meeting with representatives of the teams working on the release of captives.

Zelenskyy noted that among those present at the meeting were representatives of the staff, services involved in exchanges, as well as individuals released from Russian captivity, including defenders from various fronts. He expressed gratitude to all participants of the meeting and honored the memory of the soldiers who died as a result of the terrorist act in Olenivka.

The president emphasized that the most important task is the return of all Ukrainians home and the next stage of the exchange process. He noted that Ukraine hopes to release civilians who are currently held in Russia.

Zelenskyy also highlighted the importance of continuing exchanges and the timely replacement of each incident. "Every person matters. I am grateful to everyone who does everything possible for the organization of exchanges," he emphasized.

On July 28, Ukraine honors the memory of those who died, whether in combat or as a result of captivity.
