The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced plans to prepare peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Turkey. He expressed hope that it would be possible to organize a meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky.
Erdogan emphasized that Turkey would ensure favorable conditions for conducting negotiations. He underscored the importance of this initiative for ending the war in Ukraine, expressing hope for a swift establishment of peace.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Russia is positively inclined towards Erdogan's initiative. He noted that Turkey is willing to involve all participants in the negotiations, and Russia appreciates Ankara for its efforts in seeking ways to regulate the situation.
Erdogan also stated that the most likely time for negotiations with Trump and Putin would be to clarify the possibility of their joint meeting in Istanbul. During the meeting with the Cabinet of Ministers, he stressed the importance of the peace process and Turkey's readiness to organize the necessary measures.
