- Powerful storms may trigger tornadoes in the USA.
- More than 170 million people are under a severe weather warning.
- There is a possibility of tornado formation in certain regions.
On July 28, 2025, it is predicted that powerful storms will engulf the northern plains of the USA, accompanied by severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. There is a possibility of prolonged derecho – a series of storms that can produce strong straight-line winds, increasing.
In accordance with the forecast, the level of risk for severe thunderstorms in some areas of Southern Dakota and Minnesota will be 4 out of 5. This is associated with possible wind gusts that exceed 80 mph, which may be similar to a category one tornado. There is also a chance of multiple tornado formations.
In addition, more than 170 million people in the Central USA, particularly in the South and Southeast regions, are under a severe weather warning. Temperatures in some areas could reach 115 degrees Fahrenheit. In large cities like Dallas, Chicago, and New York, there are also reports of extreme temperatures.
Extreme weather conditions, including strong rains and winds, may pose a threat to motorists, especially on I-29 and I-90, where strong wind gusts are anticipated. Storm systems that are developing may lead to localized flooding, especially in areas that have already been affected by heavy rains.
It is forecasted that storms will reach peak intensity in the late evening hours in the eastern parts of Southern Dakota, before moving into Minnesota. Weather conditions are expected to improve on Thursday, but in the South and in Florida, extreme temperatures will persist.
