Aerial aid deliveries to Gaza continue to arrive
- Great Britain, Jordan, and the UAE are sending aid to Gaza.
- 17 tons of humanitarian aid were dropped by planes.
- The number of deaths from hunger in Gaza is increasing.
Great Britain has sent aid to Jordan and the United Arab Emirates in aerial humanitarian deliveries to Gaza, where hunger and deprivation have reached critical levels. In the past two weeks, two planes from Jordan and the UAE made the delivery of 17 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
This delivery occurred against the backdrop of increasing pressure from the international community on Israel to alleviate the humanitarian crisis. According to information from Israeli military sources, 180 loads of aid have already been sent to Gaza in the past week.
However, according to Philippe Lazzarini, head of UNRWA for Palestinian refugees, aerial deliveries are "expensive, ineffective, and may even contribute to the deaths of starving civilians." For example, 17 tons of dropped aid is less than one load from the ground, which according to estimates of the UN Relief and Works Agency is around 19 tons.
According to data from the Ministry of Health in Gaza, in the last 24 hours 14 people died from hunger and deprivation, which increased the overall death toll from hunger to 147 people, including 88 children, most of whom died in the last several weeks.
Researchers emphasize that air deliveries are a temporary method of providing aid, considering the logistical problems of access and effectiveness. Medical workers are calling for organized ground delivery of aid through local transport, which is more effective and safer.
