Severe floods in Romania killed three people and prompted evacuations

As a result of the severe floods in the eastern part of Romania, three individuals died, including two women aged 85 and 83. They became victims of the powerful rains that triggered flooding in 25 villages across nine counties. Preliminary data indicate that the most affected areas are the counties of Nyamts and Suceava, where two rivers overflowed their banks.

Emergency services reported the evacuation of 890 people from the area around Nyamts, as well as the rescue of residents who were trapped in their homes. Helicopters were used for rescue operations.

In the village of Brosten, all access roads were blocked. Water levels in the rivers reached record highs, causing a significant flooding process. Footage shows raging waters and submerged buildings.
