Boulder, Colorado. The head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, Deon Sanders, reported that he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of pancreatic cancer. After the surgical intervention, the doctors consider him fully recovered.
In the operation, which involved the removal of the pancreatic tumor, Dr. Janette Kukreja, director of surgical oncology at the CU Cancer Center, participated. Sanders, who is due to turn 58 next month, plans to continue leading the team this season.
The coach returned to the university last week and wrote on social media: "I returned and feel wonderful!". He missed the traditional meetings in Boulder this summer due to his recovery.
Sanders spoke at a press conference, where his medical team and representatives from CU Anschutz and UCHealth confirmed previously reported information about his health status.
