President Donald Trump continues to respond to questions regarding his connections with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, in the backdrop of growing scrutiny among his associates through the processing of so-called Epstein files.

At a press conference with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump stated that he declined an invitation to visit Epstein's private island, Little St. James, in the Caribbean. "I never had a preference to visit his island and declined, but many people in Palm Beach were invited to his island," Trump noted.

The island became a key element in the accusations against Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell. Epstein was found dead in his cell in 2019, a month after his arrest, while Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years for trafficking underage girls following her trial in 2021.

During his 2024 campaign, Trump promised to release all the FBI and Justice Department files related to this case. This step has not yet been implemented, which has triggered speculation among his associates and raised suspicions regarding the involvement of wealthy and influential individuals. Trump also unambiguously stated that Democrats might "add things" to Epstein's files.

In addition, Trump noted that he severed ties with Epstein because he "fired" his employees. He reported that "for years he did not associate with Epstein" because of this. Earlier, it was reported that Trump barred Epstein from visiting his Mar-a-Lago estate after Epstein made a non-pressing proposal to one of the daughters of club members.
