Trump Demands Testimony from Rupert Murdoch in Case Against Wall Street Journal
- Trump demands testimony from Rupert Murdoch in court.
- The case was filed regarding Trump's ties to Epstein.
- The court set a deadline for Murdoch's response by September 4.
President Donald Trump has turned to a federal court in Florida requesting that Rupert Murdoch provide testimony in his case against The Wall Street Journal. This request was filed on July 28, indicating Murdoch's age and physical condition, which justifies the demand for testimony to be extended by 15 days.
The case was filed on July 18 through the publication of an article concerning Trump's connections with Jeffrey Epstein, who passed away in custody in 2019. The article states that Trump sent Epstein a "birthday" letter on the day of his birthday.
Trump claims that no one wrote such a letter and expresses concern that the article was published after his personal outreach to Murdoch, in which he requested information. The court filing notes that Murdoch, who is 94 years old, has health issues and lives in New York, which may complicate his testimony in Florida.
Judge Deryn P. Hales has currently set the deadline for Murdoch's response to Trump's request for September 4, although testimony may occur no earlier than two weeks from now.
At this moment, News Corp has not provided comments regarding this matter.
