The Denver Broncos have finalized an agreement with wide receiver Courtland Sutton on a four-year contract worth $92 million, several outlets reported. The deal, which runs through 2029, includes an average salary of $23 million per year and $41 million guaranteed.
Sutton, who turns 30 this year, is having one of the best seasons of his career, recording 81 receptions for 1,081 yards and 8 touchdowns. This is his first season with over 1,000 yards since 2019.
Head coach of the Broncos Sean Payton emphasized Sutton's importance to the team, stating that he is one of the leaders of the group. Sutton did not participate in all the workouts due to contract negotiations, but he received a limited number of repetitions.
The Broncos are also conducting negotiations with other veterans for new contracts, including safety Zak Allen and linebacker Nick Bonitto. Payton noted that starting back Drew Sanders is expected to miss nearly six weeks due to an ankle injury, but it is not as serious as it could have been.
