Court Sentences Man for Stalking WNBA Star Caitlin Clark

55-year-old Michael Luyuis from Texas was sentenced for stalking and harassing Caitlin Clark, a player for Indiana Fever. He was arrested in January 2025 in Indianapolis after sending multiple threatening and sexually explicit messages through social media.

Luyuis admitted his guilt in a plea deal and was sentenced to two years of probation. Since he has already spent part of this time under supervision, he will remain on probation for approximately 18 months.

Additionally, the court barred Luyuis from contacting Clark and attending Fever events. Under the terms of the plea agreement regarding the recognition of his guilt, he was also recommended to undergo mental health treatment.

Prosecutor Ryan Mirs stated that this decision aims to ensure the safety of Clark, who is now focused on her career, not worrying for her life.

Luyuis began sending messages to Clark in early 2024, claiming to have "feelings" for her. His messages became increasingly disturbing, including threats and fabricated extraordinary situations.

The police were alerted to potential stalking after complaints from Clark and her representatives, which prompted an investigation and arrest of Luyuis.
