Trump Shortens the Term for Russia Regarding Peace in Ukraine
- Trump has shortened the term for Russia to conclude a peace agreement with Ukraine to September 9.
- Experts believe that previous terms set by Trump are often not fulfilled.
- The likelihood of a meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia is increasing.
President of the USA Donald Trump announced the shortening of his term for Russia to conclude a peace agreement with Ukraine. The designated term now comprises 10-12 days, instead of the previous 50 days that were announced earlier.
Trump made this statement during a press conference in Scotland, where he met with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak. He emphasized that he intends to be "shredding," but does not see progress in the negotiations.
Now Russia has until September 9 to reach an agreement on a ceasefire. In the event of non-fulfillment of this term, Trump threatens to impose new sanctions and tariffs on Russian goods, including on oil products.
However, analysts express skepticism regarding the reality of this ultimatum. They believe that previous terms that Trump announced earlier were often not fulfilled, and Russia has long been rejecting the USA's proposals regarding a peace agreement.
The first deputy minister of foreign affairs of Ukraine, Sergey Kislytsya, noted that the chances of a meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia are increasing, as Washington is becoming impatient regarding the delay in negotiations from Moscow's side.
Kislytsya emphasized that Russia is trying to delay the negotiation process instead of seeking real solutions for ending the war.
