The Warner Bros. Discovery company announced a plan to split into two separate companies, which will receive new names. In 2026, the company will cease to exist under the name Warner Bros. Discovery, and instead, Warner Bros. and Discovery Global will be created.
Warner Bros. will focus on film, television, and games, including DC Studios, HBO, and HBO Max. Discovery Global will be responsible for live television channels, such as CNN, HGTV, Cartoon Network, and TLC.
The president of the company, David Zaslav, will continue to lead Warner Bros., while financial director Gunnar Wiedenfels will become president and CEO of Discovery Global. These changes, according to the management, aim to improve the financial condition of the company, and also allow for the separation of the burdens between the new structures.
Both new companies are expected to benefit from a decline related to a history longer than the stagnant history of the distribution industry.
At the same time, San Diego Comic-Con 2025 presented new projects, including announcements of Star Trek spin-offs, new trailers for Peacemaker and Gen V, as well as new adaptations of Stephen King's works. These events demonstrate the continued active development of the industry, regardless of corporate changes.
