  • Tractive has acquired Whistle, trackers that will cease operation on September 31, 2025.
  • Users can receive a free replacement tracker until March 30, 2025.
  • The new Tractive subscription offers various monitoring features for pets.

This was reported by The Verge, Engadget.

The Austrian company Tractive has acquired Whistle, a subsidiary of Mars Petcare, which produces trackers for pets. As a result of this acquisition, Whistle trackers will stop functioning on September 31, 2025. Users who own Whistle trackers will be able to receive a free replacement for a Tractive tracker until March 30, 2025.

To receive a new tracker, users will need to register on the Tractive platform and provide the serial number of their Whistle tracker. Tractive will also transfer any remaining active Whistle subscriptions to new Tractive accounts.

The basic Tractive plan costs $108 per year and includes pet monitoring features such as location tracking, heart rate frequency, and activity levels. The premium plan for $120 per year offers additional features such as international coverage and GPS data export.

Whistle will provide free trackers until March 30, 2025, but the guarantees on Whistle devices will not be valid after they are discontinued. In contrast, new Tractive trackers will ensure a two-year warranty.
