It has been announced the closure of 20 border checkpoints with Ukraine

  • Starting from September 1, 2025, 20 border checkpoints will be closed.
  • Among the closed checkpoints are automobile and railway ones.
  • The border checkpoints are located in temporarily occupied territories.

This is reported by RBC Ukraine, Ukrinform.

The Russian government officially announced the closure of 20 border checkpoints with Ukraine starting from September 1, 2025. This decision was made under a signed document, according to which the border checkpoints established by an agreement between the governments of Russia and Ukraine from February 8, 1995, will no longer operate.

The list of closed checkpoints includes 13 automobile and 7 railway border checkpoints. Many of them are located on the border of the Russian Federation with the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhia regions.

It is reminded that at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine in February 2022, Ukraine closed all border checkpoints on its borders with Russia and Belarus. However, Ukrainian citizens had the opportunity to return to their homeland without restrictions from these countries.
