- Waymo will begin operations in Dallas in 2026.
- The company is collaborating with Avis for fleet management.
- The service has previously operated successfully in other U.S. cities.
Waymo has announced plans to launch a ride-hailing service in Dallas in 2026. This will be the second major city in Texas after Austin, where Waymo provides autonomous ride services. In Dallas, the company will partner with Avis Budget Group to manage its fleet of electric Jaguar I-Pace vehicles.
Users will be able to request rides through the Waymo app. Avis will handle general operations, such as charging and maintaining the vehicles. Waymo is already successfully operating in five cities, including Austin, Atlanta, and San Francisco.
Previously, the company conducted testing of its autonomous vehicles on the streets of Dallas, which was the first step before launching the service. Waymo also plans to expand its operations in other cities, such as Washington, D.C., and Miami. The partnership with Avis will allow the company to scale its technology more quickly in new markets.
