National Bank Open continues with Pablo Carreno Busta's comeback

Toronto — Pablo Carreno Busta, the 2022 National Bank Open champion, started the tournament on Monday, defeating Canadian player-veteran Liam Driscoll with a score of 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Carreno Busta secured his first Masters 1000 title when the tournament was held in Montreal three years ago. Another Spaniard, Haume Munar, advanced further, defeating Canadian Denis Martin with a score of 6-3, 6-0. Martin qualified for the main draw through qualifying.
On Monday, there were no Russian players, except for top players like Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Jack Draper, and Novak Djokovic, who had already withdrawn from the tournament.
Among other notable results, Australian qualifier Tristan Skulke defeated rising Brazilian star Joao Fonseca with a score of 7-6 (5), 6-4. American Mackenzie McDonald won against Belgian David Goffin with a score of 6-4, 6-4.
