Russia Suspends Gasoline Exports Due to Domestic Demand
- The ban on gasoline exports will last until the end of September.
- The main reason is the increased domestic demand for fuel.
- The restrictions do not apply to supplies to certain neighboring countries.
This is reported by RBC Ukraine, Meduza.
In Russia, a ban on gasoline exports has been introduced until the end of September 2025. This step is related to the increased demand for fuel in the country and seasonal agricultural work. According to the statement from the Russian government, the decision was made to support the stability of the domestic fuel market.
Previously, the restrictions were not widespread among the main fuel producers, but now they have been expanded to prevent a rise in prices, which have reached record levels on Russian commodity exchanges. Gasoline reserves in the domestic market are decreasing, prompting the government to implement the restrictions. In Central Russia, about 100,000 barrels of gasoline are exported per day, which accounts for less than 2% of the total global trade volume.
These measures are a response to rising gasoline prices, which have been increasing throughout all trading sessions recently. It is also known that Russian oil refineries have experienced an influx of demand, which led to changes in technical maintenance schedules.
The ban on gasoline exports does not apply to supplies to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union or Mongolia, with which Russia has intergovernmental agreements on fuel supplies.
