Minkah Fitzpatrick, who previously played for Pittsburgh Steelers, has returned to the Miami Dolphins, the team that drafted him in 2018. Fitzpatrick expressed his excitement about being back in Miami and hopes for a long-term partnership with the club. During the press conference, he emphasized that his desire to return was not a secret.
Fitzpatrick signed a new contract with the Dolphins, part of which was converted into a signing bonus amounting to $16.2 million. This increased his salary to $17.5 million for this season. He expressed a desire to play at a high level to earn the team's trust and secure a long-term contract.
Fitzpatrick spent 5 seasons with the Steelers, where he became one of the top safeties in the NFL, making five Pro Bowl selections. His new teammates in Miami highlight his leadership qualities. For instance, Jaylen Waddle noted that Fitzpatrick brings energy to the team's game.
Dolphins Signed Another Safety
In addition, the Dolphins signed experienced safety Mike Hilton, who previously played for the Bengals and Steelers. Hilton has impressive experience, including 56 starts and 13 interceptions over 8 seasons.
The team aims to improve its defense following the injury of Artie Burns, who suffered a rupture of the previous cruciate ligament.
The NFL season begins on September 7, when the Dolphins will host the Indianapolis Colts at Hard Rock Stadium, marking a significant occasion for Fitzpatrick, as it will be his first game after returning to the Dolphins.
