Gunfire in Manhattan Leaves Four Dead

On the evening of July 29, 2025, in Manhattan, New York, a shooting occurred in which four individuals were killed, including officers of the New York Police Department. The suspect, identified as Shayne Tamura, 27, reportedly acted alone.
At approximately 6:28 PM, the police received calls about an active shooter in the office building at Park Avenue, 345. According to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tish, Tamura was driving a black BMW, equipped with a modified M4. He began shooting on the first floor, killing police officer Didaral Islam, 36. Subsequently, he moved to the 33rd floor, where he continued shooting.
Among the victims, three individuals have not yet been identified. Officer Islam, a father of two, served in the 47th precinct of the Bronx for three years.
Tamura, who had a license for a fire protection company in Nevada, had a history of mental health issues. The police continue to investigate to ascertain his motivations.
Witnesses claim that during the shooting, they were hiding in a conference room, trying to remain safe. One of the witnesses, Jessica Chen, noted that they received updates from the police and tried to stay calm.
The police confirmed that the shooter was found dead on the 33rd floor, likely as a result of self-inflicted gunfire. Currently, the investigation is ongoing with the support of federal agencies, including the FBI.
