On July 28, 2025, the Russian airline Aeroflot announced a major hacker attack, resulting in the destruction of nearly 7,000 servers. The attack was carried out by the groups Silent Crow and Cyber Partisans.
Silent Crow announced that throughout the year they gained access to Aeroflot's systems. As a result of the attack, 20 terabytes of data were stolen, including historical pilot records and electronic mail of employees.
In 2025, this was already the third significant attack by this group on Russian institutions. Earlier, they had conducted attacks on the Russian registration service and the telecom company Rostelecom.
In response to the attack, the Russian Prosecutor's Office initiated a criminal investigation for the fact of unauthorized access to computer information. Aeroflot canceled more than 100 flights due to issues in information systems.
Silent Crow positions itself as a pro-Ukrainian hacker group that does not demand ransom and publicly seeks to damage Russia's information infrastructure.
