The United States and the EU Have Signed a Trade Agreement

  • The agreement provides for a 15% tariff on European goods in the USA.
  • The EU commits to purchasing energy products worth 750 billion dollars.
  • The agreement requires the approval of 27 EU member states.

On July 29, 2025, the United States and the European Union reached a trade agreement, concluding three rounds of negotiations. President Donald Trump announced that the agreement is beneficial for both sides. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized the importance of the agreement for the stability of business.

The agreement provides for an immediate tariff on goods from the EU of 15%, which is the highest indicator in many years. This tariff affects nearly 70% of European exports to the USA, although some goods will remain exempt. For example, steel and aluminum will remain under a 50% tariff.

In addition, the EU commits to purchasing energy products totaling 750 billion dollars, which includes natural gas, oil, and nuclear technology. The agreement also includes investments by European companies in the American economy totaling 600 billion dollars.

The agreement must be approved by all 27 EU member states. Currently, there is no information about possible objections from the EU side.
